What We Believe
At CHURCH FOR THE NATIONS we affirm:
-
The Inspiration of the Scriptures – We believe that the Bible is the inspired word of God (2 Tim. 3:16,17).
-
The Eternal Godhead – We believe that there is only One God, who exists as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (2 Cor. 13:14).
-
Jesus Christ – We believe that the fulness of God is found in Jesus Christ (Col 2:9). We believe in his atoning death and resurrection, his ascension, and his abiding intercession for the Church.
-
The Holy Spirit – We believe that the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to indwell, guide, and empower the church for godly living and service in the world.
-
The Salvation of Man – We believe that we freely receive salvation when we come to God through faith in the atoning work of Jesus on the cross.
-
The Gifts and Fruit of the Spirit – We believe that God actively displays His grace in those who have been filled with His Spirit (1 Cor. 12:1-11), and that the Spirit's indwelling is further evidenced through its influence on our character and conduct (Gal. 5:22-25).
-
The Church and its Mission – We believe that the church is the body of Christ in this world, and the place where God now abides through His Spirit.
-
The Ordinances of the Church – We believe that baptism by immersion in water is a testimony of the believer’s identification with Jesus in both his death and resurrection (Rom. 6:4). We believe in commemorating the Lord's Meal through the symbolic use of bread and drink, which represent the body and blood of Jesus (Mk. 14:22-25).
-
Church Relationship – We believe that followers of Christ have a sacred duty to identify with the visible church of Jesus Christ, and are to assemble regularly with fellow believers (Heb. 10:24-25).
-
Tithes and Offerings – We believe that the method ordained by God for the support and spread of His work in the world is through the giving of tithes and offerings (Mal. 3:10; 2 Cor. 9:7). Our giving is an act of worship, and an expression of our gratitude, trust, and increasing joy.
